Job Description:

The IT Officer provides first-level technical support for network-related issues and assists in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organization's IT infrastructure. This role also involves coordinating small-scale IT projects, ensuring proper documentation, timelines, and stakeholder alignment. The IT Officer will act as the first point of contact for network incidents while supporting project initiatives within IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Support (Level 1):

  • Provide first-line support for network connectivity issues, hardware, and related IT systems.
  • Monitor and escalate network alerts, outages, and performance issues to higher-level support teams or vendors.
  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network devices (switches, routers, access points, firewalls) under supervision.
  • Support end-users with basic troubleshooting of network and system access (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, email, printers).
  • Perform routine checks, patching, and preventive maintenance.
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and escalate unresolved cases to Level 2/3 teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems.
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in network administration, network engineering, or IT infrastructure management, with hands-on experience in complex network environments (LAN/WAN).
  • Proficiency in configuring, installing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Implementing and managing VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), firewall rules, and network access control (NAC).
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy) and/or Linux/Unix administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to document procedures and clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical staff or management.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage network-related projects, including planning, implementation, and coordination with vendors.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues quickly.
