Position Overview

We seek an experienced Design Team Manager based in the Philippines to lead our remote design department. This critical operations role oversees 4 designers (2 AV Design Specialists and 2 PV Designers) supporting our US-based sales and operations teams. Reporting directly to the COO, you'll ensure design quality, technical accuracy, and seamless project execution across both electrical technology business lines. This position requires working 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST to ensure full alignment with US operations.

Key Accountability Metrics

• Timely Response: Ensure sales teams receive initial designs quickly enough to maintain momentum with clients and close deals confidently

• Design Accuracy: Deliver technically sound designs that installation teams can execute without field modifications or clarification calls

• Documentation Excellence: Provide complete, consistent documentation that enables smooth permitting, procurement, and installation processes

• Industry Compliance: Maintain full adherence to NEC standards, local codes, and best practices to ensure project approval and safety

• Sales Enablement: Be recognized by sales teams as a reliable partner who helps them win projects through responsive, professional design support

• Installation Success: Minimize installation delays, change orders, and field issues through thorough, constructible designs

Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Build a high-performing design team that sales and operations view as invaluable partners

• Foster a culture of responsiveness, accuracy, and continuous improvement

• Conduct weekly Level 10 meetings aligned with EOS methodology

• Develop team members' technical skills in electrical systems and construction practices

• Create cross-functional capabilities between AV and PV designers

Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight

• Establish and maintain design standards that ensure field success

• Review designs for technical accuracy, code compliance, and constructability

• Develop quality checkpoints that catch issues before they reach the field

• Ensure all designs meet or exceed industry standards and best practices

• Create documentation templates that provide clarity for all stakeholders

Project Coordination

• Partner with sales teams to understand client needs and project constraints

• Collaborate with operations to ensure designs are practical and installable

• Manage design workflows to support sales cycles and project timelines

• Communicate proactively about design status and potential challenges

• Bridge the gap between sales promises and operational realities

Process Improvement

• Identify and eliminate friction points in the design-to-installation process

• Standardize approaches that improve consistency and reduce errors

• Implement tools and workflows that enhance team efficiency

• Document best practices and lessons learned from field feedback

• Drive improvements that directly impact sales success and installation efficiency

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as the design team's voice in operations planning sessions

• Build strong working relationships with US sales and field teams

• Provide technical expertise that helps sales teams scope projects accurately

• Support operations with designs that consider real-world installation challenges

• Foster a collaborative environment that breaks down departmental silos

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of design team management experience in electrical, AV, solar, or related technical fields

• Strong technical background in electrical systems design and technology integration

• Proven ability to manage remote teams and maintain consistent quality standards

• Experience with AutoCAD and specialized electrical design software (Aurora, Helioscope, Revit, Visio)

• Understanding of electrical load calculations, power distribution, and control systems

• Track record of improving team performance and stakeholder satisfaction

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• Knowledge of US electrical codes (NEC) and construction industry standards

• Available to work 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Central Standard Time

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent electrical engineering credentials

• Experience managing teams in both low-voltage (AV) and high-voltage (solar) applications

• Background in construction project coordination and field installation support

• Familiarity with EOS Traction or similar business operating systems

• Industry certifications (CTS, NABCEP, or equivalent)

• Experience with BIM and 3D modeling for electrical systems

Working Conditions

• Full-time remote position based in the Philippines

• Fixed schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CST (9:00 PM - 5:30 AM Philippine Time)

• Weekly video meetings with COO and department heads

• Quarterly virtual planning sessions with executive team

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary commensurate with market and experience (PHP90,000 - PHP130,000/month)
