Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/audit experience, including at least
    2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
    .
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 auditing firm (at least at the Senior Associate level)
  • Strong background in financial reporting, taxation, and compliance.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is highly preferred.
  • Must have external audit experience of insurance/reinsurance companies.
  • Must have experience with GAE and Investments Accounting
  • Must be familiar with reinsurance/insurance operations and processing systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable of accounting principles/reporting and how they apply to reinsurance or insurance business.

Job Summary:

The Team Lead responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the GAE Accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to internal control standards. This role will manage and guide team members, provide technical expertise, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial results. The position requires strong leadership, advanced accounting knowledge, and the ability to drive process improvements while supporting business decisions through reliable financial data

Job description:

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop members of the GAE Accounting team to ensure high performance and continuous professional growth.
  • Allocate tasks, review outputs, and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Record Keeping
:

  • Ensure the accurate and systematic recording of all financial transactions.
  • Review and validate journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by the team.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements at the end of each accounting period.

3.
Financial Reporting/Results Communication
:

  • Review and deliver timely and accurate financial reports for management reporting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Communicate financial results and insights to senior management and stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Oversee financial data analysis and provide recommendations on business and operational strategies.

4. Tax Planning and Compliance
:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Supervise tax planning activities to minimize risks and optimize tax efficiency.
  • Act as point of contact for external auditors and regulators during financial and tax audits.

5. Internal Control and Risk Management
:

  • Strengthen and monitor internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal control standards.
  • Identify process gaps and lead initiatives for automation and efficiency improvements.

5. People Development
:

  • Conduct / review job description of team members.
  • Assess developmental needs of the direct reports and create training plans based on competency assessment and results of performance evaluation.

6. Other tasks
: Covers and oversees all other processes that are related to GAE and Investments accounting.
