About the Role

Ryoss is seeking a skilled and motivated Rust Developer to join our development team. You will work with international clients and internal teams to design, build, and maintain high-performance applications using the Rust programming language. The role involves developing secure, efficient, and scalable software solutions across a range of use cases; from backend systems and APIs to high-throughput and data-intensive applications.

You'll work closely with other developers, technical leads, and project managers to deliver reliable software under real-world conditions. This position suits someone who takes ownership of their work, has strong technical instincts, and enjoys solving hard problems with clean, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain robust, reusable Rust components and services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture and deliver new features
  • Optimise systems for performance, concurrency, and scalability
  • Write and maintain automated tests including unit, integration, and performance tests
  • Conduct peer reviews and uphold high code quality standards
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in both development and production environments
  • Contribute to system design, technical documentation, and process improvement
  • Maintain and extend CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
  • Stay current with developments in the Rust ecosystem and adjacent technologies
  • Support the continuous improvement of engineering practices and workflows
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years using Rust in production
  • Deep understanding of ownership, lifetimes, concurrency, async I/O, and memory management
  • Strong grounding in API design, data structures, and performance tuning
  • Experience integrating with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other databases using async libraries (sqlx, tokio-postgres, redis-rs)
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Competent with Linux environments, including performance profiling and debugging
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean) and basic Infrastructure-as-Code principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a focus on reliability and maintainability
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate in remote, distributed teams
  • A disciplined approach to version control, documentation, and code ownership
