About the Job
We're looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our growing team at ClockworX. In this role, you'll play a key part in managing client accounts and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new clients. You'll handle end-to-end bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable and receivable, monthly financial reporting, and GST compliance. You'll also collaborate closely with Client Managers to streamline processes and support the successful transition of clients to ongoing services.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Onboarding & Transition
- Lead the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a smooth and organized transition into ClockworX systems.
- Perform Xero conversions and set up month-end reporting packs tailored to client needs.
- Create and document clear work schedules, procedures, and process notes.
- Support Client Managers and Team Leaders with various onboarding and bookkeeping tasks.
- Ensure new clients are fully transitioned and set up for ongoing services.
- Conduct system health checks and refine workflows to enhance efficiency.
- Train Accounts Analysts and provide continued support during the transition phase.
Bookkeeping & Compliance
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand regulatory requirements (GST, FBT, PAYE, etc.).
- Assist with client audit requests and related financial documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Development
- Stay updated with new accounting standards, legislation, and software updates through ongoing training.
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 standards.
About You
You're an experienced Bookkeeper who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work and building strong client relationships. You're confident managing multiple clients, thrive in a fast-paced digital environment, and enjoy improving processes along the way.
Here's what you'll bring to the role:
- A qualification in Bookkeeping or Accounting
- At least 4 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience supporting New Zealand or Australian SMEs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Solid experience using accounting software such as Xero and Receipt Bank (Dext); Xero certification is a must.
- Familiarity with New Zealand taxation processes (GST, FBT, PAYE) and general compliance standards
- CPA or project management experience (an advantage but not required)
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setup (2 days onsite, 3 days work-from-home) as part of our collaborative and flexible work culture
