Marine Engineer Apprentice

A Marine Engineering Apprentice works under the supervision of experienced marine engineers gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge about the operation, maintenance, and repair of marine vessels and systems. Their duties and responsibilities typically include:
Technical Duties
- Assisting with Maintenance & Repairs
- Support maintenance of ship engines, boilers, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
- Help inspect and repair electrical and mechanical systems onboard.
- Learning and Using Tools
- Use hand and power tools to perform basic mechanical work.
- Learn to operate diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Monitoring Systems
- Observe and record readings of engine parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure).
- Assist in monitoring fuel systems, lubricants, and other vital shipboard systems.
- Helping with Installations
- Support the installation of new machinery or components on vessels.
- Help with alignment and fitting of marine equipment.
Qualifications:
- A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering
