Home based Steel Fabrication Estimator required for a growing Australian metalwork and fabrication business. This is a permanent role with paid leave, benefits and an excellent salary.

We're seeking an experienced Steel Fabrication Estimator with experience in pricing 'one off' Architectural structural steel projects in Australia.

Our client is a well-established privately owned metalwork/ steel company in Australia that specialises in design, fabrication and installation of one off products to the construction industry. They specialise in architectural metalwork that range from sports stadium structures, warehouses, access stairwells and unique one off designs.

We're looking for a Steel Fabrication Estimator with experience of undertaking take-offs from plans and estimating bespoke projects in the structures and metalworks sector in Australia. You will play a key role in helping with upcoming tenders while reporting directly to the Estimating Manager and playing a key role in the estimating team.

The Opportunity:

The key objective of the Steel Fabrication Estimator is to be responsible for material take offs, compiling costs, and quotes required to successfully bid on the project.

Accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all tenders are accurate and clearly defined.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of a project are identified and associated costs are allowed
  • Read and understand the scope for work for each job.
  • With respect to drawings, details and specifications - identify any missing information.
  • Conduct Material take-offs for structural, plate and piping estimates for review.
  • Ability to create and communicate to all stakeholders, fabrication methodology during the tender/quotation phase.
  • Liaising with clients and ensuring that you are quoting as per their requirements where allowed.
  • Track and record tenders
  • Contact clients to chase new tenders

About you:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, quantity surveying or a related field
  • Must have previous experience with a steel fabrication business
  • Must have Strong written and spoken English
  • Reading Technical Drawings: Interpreting blueprints and diagrams is essential for understanding project specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • This role is 100% home based and you will need your own computer and Monitor to fulfil the requirements
