Description

Senior Consultants lead key initiatives to ensure clients meet global environmental standards like ROHS, REACH, California Prop65, PFAS, TSCA and conflict minerals. They manage technical data, develop processes, and assess risks, while mentoring junior consultants. Their expertise in compliance, material composition, and project management will be essential in driving the Anthesis commitment to sustainability and quality.

The Senior Consultant is responsible for the management of supplier-provided environmental data to assist clients in ensuring compliance with hazardous substances regulations for products or materials. They engage with suppliers, develop processes, and conduct risk assessments while working closely with international clients and stakeholders. They must be skilled in reviewing project activities like Part Change Requests, Specification Request and Bill of Materials (BoM) management and recommending improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of material composition, regulatory compliance, as well as the ability to manage complex projects, develop their expertise, and guide junior consultants.

The ideal candidate is adept at developing and documenting business processes to meet client needs, recommending and implementing changes for continuous improvement and mitigating risk. They contribute valuable professional advice, innovative ideas, and new approaches to project management and development. This role requires individuals who are self-organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and meticulous, with a strong sense of responsibility for quality and the ability to work independently under pressure to drive success in complex projects. An interest in sustainability and experience in navigating multicultural environments further contribute to their effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Review and Validation:

o Guide the efforts of the team on data collection, review and validation of products, components and materials data and evaluation against existing legislations such as ROHS, REACH, rare earth minerals, conflict minerals, among others.

o Lead the review, validation, and processing of supplier-provided material composition content information, including lab reports for mechanical, electronics, and electrical parts, ensuring compliance with defined protocols.

  • Supplier Management:

o Track supplier performance, audit laboratory reports, and provide detailed findings to clients.

o Manage the onboarding, training, and ongoing support of suppliers in preparing and submitting accurate material declarations.

  • Client Engagement and Metrics Reporting: o Oversee the preparation of various internal and customer reports based on supplier provided full material disclosure (FMD) information.

o Provide periodic metrics reports to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

o Prepare custom reports based on stakeholder-specific needs such as customer compliance reports, product bill of materials (BOM) reports, SCIP dossier submission, among others.

  • Compliance Leadership:

o Collect and validate data related to conflict minerals, rare earth minerals, and other critical substances, ensuring alignment with global regulatory standards. o Assess risks associated with material composition of parts and assemblies, providing recommendations for risk mitigation.

  • Process Development:

o Define, document, and deliver business processes to collect and manage environmental, carbon, and sustainability-related supplier data.

o Develop and document business processes to meet client needs, recommending and implementing continuous improvements.

  • Project Documentation and Improvement: o Maintain project records (e.g. material and substance content of such based on technical sources), prepare technical and other reports to document progress and results.

o Review and approve applicable Part Change Requests, Specification Requests, and Revisions.

o Recommend process and tool improvements to increase material declaration accuracy and reduce cycle times.

  • Leadership and Mentorship:

Counsel, train, and oversee the work of junior staff and technical support personnel, ensuring they meet project standards and deadlines

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical/Materials/Metallurgical/Environmental/Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Subject matter expert in the utilization of ACS/ SAP-EHSM/ CMAP/ CDX/ IMDS/ Alteryx/ PowerBI
  • Minimum 3 Years working experience specializing in Engineering – Chemical/Materials or equivalent, Procurement/Supply Chain, Design and Component Engineering or equivalent, working with a team or juniors under them
  • Electronics industry experience, knowledge of electronics manufacturing, bills of materials (BoMs), and materials typically used in electronics manufacturing is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in verbal and written English
  • Solid understanding and experience in environmental regulations such as ROHS, REACH, California Prop65, PFAS, TSCA, EPEAT, WEEE, ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of IPC 1752, Full Material Disclosure (FMD), Supplier Support, Materials Composition and Compliance; Sustainability, Conflict Minerals
  • Experience with supplier capability development, including training, education and meeting facilitation.
  • Experience with client engagement; coordination with relevant stakeholders as required for the project
  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings with regulatory agencies, trade group associations, and customers.
  • Knowledge of foreign language (e.g. Chinese and/or Japanese) spoken and written technical language capability will be an advantage (required on certain projects)
  • M.S. degree in Environmental/Materials Science and Engineering or Professional License (Passed Board/Professional License Exam) is an advantage
