Litigations Associate

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Associate (CA Government Claims) to support our California litigation team in handling complex cases against public entities under the California Government Claims Act (CGCA). This role requires legal research and analytical skills, the ability to handle high-pressure deadlines, and a team-oriented mindset. The associate will be responsible for drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and ensuring statutory compliance while working closely with U.S.-based attorneys.

This is an opportunity for a dedicated and meticulous legal professional to gain experience in high-stakes litigation and develop expertise in public entity liability, premises liability, and statutory claims compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Research & Case Analysis:Conduct in-depth legal research on the California Government Claims Act (Gov. Code §§ , public entity defenses, and dangerous condition of public property claims. Analyze statutory immunities, case law, and legislative intent to develop strong legal arguments.

Prepare high-quality legal memoranda and strategy reports for California attorneys. Research and summarize municipal codes, safety regulations, and government policies relevant to claims. Complex Litigation Support:Draft motions, petitions, complaints, and discovery requests under attorney supervision.

Assist in preparing motions for summary judgment, demurrers, and oppositions. Summarize deposition transcripts, medical records, and government entity records. Identify legal weaknesses in public entity defenses and assist in developing counterarguments.

Case & Deadline Management:Track statutory deadlines for government claims submissions and legal filings. Ensure strict compliance with procedural rules under California law. Maintain organized case files, pleadings, and legal correspondence using Filevine.

Work under pressure to meet tight litigation deadlines and last-minute research requests. Collaboration & Communication:Work closely with U.S. attorneys, litigation coordinators, and fellow associates. Participate in case strategy meetings and contribute research insights.

Coordinate with expert witnesses, including municipal liability experts, engineers, and accident reconstructionists. Engage in frequent case discussions and proactively assist in complex case matters. QualificationsRequired:Law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited Philippine law school.

Philippine Bar admission. Minimum 1 year of litigation, legal research, or procedural drafting experience. Strong ability to handle complex legal issues and conduct advanced case law analysis.

Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring precision in research, filings, and compliance tracking. Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment. Team player with strong collaboration skills, able to work seamlessly with remote U.S. legal teams.

Strong English writing skills, particularly in drafting legal pleadings, memoranda, and case analysis. Preferred:Familiarity with California Rules of Court, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and government liability law. Experience handling large volumes of legal research under tight deadlines.
