We are seeking a Signage Design Engineer to produce complete, fabrication-ready shop drawings for architectural and electrical signage projects. This position requires a balance of structural drafting and electrical layout design, ensuring that fabricators, installers, and inspectors receive clear and accurate documentation.

You will be responsible for transforming sales concepts and client-approved mockups into detailed blueprint packages that comply with industry standards, UL/NEC codes, and local permitting requirements.

This is a remote position with a fixed schedule of Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Central US Time (CST/CDT).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop shop drawing packages for architectural and electrical signage (plan, elevation, section, and detail views).
  • Translate sales mock-ups and client approvals into fabrication-ready drawings.
  • Provide structural details: material callouts, steel/aluminum specs, welding details, wind load/footing requirements for freestanding signs and pylons.
  • Produce electrical layouts: LED module placement, wiring runs, power supply distribution, breaker/conduit specifications, and load calculations in compliance with UL/NEC/local codes.
  • Prepare exploded diagrams, material schedules, mounting/footing details, and UL label notes for fabricators and installers.
  • Coordinate with engineers for stamping on large-scale or city-regulated projects.
  • Maintain consistency in drawing standards and documentation.
  • Support project managers and fabrication teams by clarifying design details when needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sign Designer, Draftsman, or Design Engineer in the signage industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (SolidWorks, CorelCAD, or similar software a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of signage materials (steel, aluminum, ACM, acrylic, vinyl, LEDs, fasteners).
  • Understanding of fabrication and installation methods for channel letters, pylons, and architectural signage.
  • Familiarity with UL standards, NEC codes, and local permitting requirements for electrical signage.
  • Ability to produce full blueprint packages (shop drawings, exploded views, wiring diagrams, load calculations).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with sales, project managers, and fabricators.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Rate: $10 USD per hour
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST/CDT
  • Remote Work (long-term opportunity for the right candidate)
