POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced Accountant with strong expertise in Australian tax compliance and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs). This role is responsible for preparing annual SMSF, company, and individual (preferred) financial statements, tax returns, audit files, and management accounts. The Accountant will maintain accurate digital financial records, manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile accounts, prepare BAS, and implement taxation planning strategies. Working closely with a small team, they will liaise with clients, provide technical advice, and ensure workflow efficiency through the effective use of accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, and BGL 360. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for preparation of annual Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Financial Statements, Tax Returns, and Audit Files.

Organize and update financial records as needed (digital) for tax purposes.

Consider and implement taxation planning.

Liaise with clients and advise on technical matters as they arise.

Responsible for preparation of annual Company Financial Statements, Tax Returns and Working Papers

Responsible for preparation of individual Income Tax Returns (not required but preferred)

Work with a small team of accountants and manage workflow.

Deliver operating efficiencies through accounting and business systems.

Responsible for tracking and following up accounts receivable.

Prepare accounts payable and validate invoices.

Responsible for preparing BAS, bookkeeping procedures.

Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare management accounts.

Stay informed on industry developments and changes in regulations.

Strong knowledge and experience in Australian tax compliance.

Other ad hoc tasks as required.

OB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any relevant field.

Minimum 3+ year experience in SMSF Accounting and Australian Accounting.

At least 3+ years working experience using XERO, MYOB, BGL 360, and other related business and accounting software systems.

Strong attention to detail, time management, and accounting administration skills.

Familiarity with office management procedures and accounting principles.

Excellent knowledge of MS Office Excel and office management software.

Strong research, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal English business communication skills.
