We are looking for a DevOps Team Lead to join our Customer Solutions Team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of systems across E-commerce, Identity Management, and CRM platforms, providing vital technical and business support across CUPA. This is a leadership role with hands-on responsibilities as needed, including on-call duties and managing the DevOps on-call rota.

What will you do as a DevOps Team Lead?

As our Senior DevOps Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping how Cambridge delivers secure, reliable, and scalable digital solutions to millions of learners worldwide. You will:

• Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, driving best practices and continuous improvement.
• Oversee and enhance our cloud infrastructure (AWS) to ensure performance, security, and scalability.
• Champion automation and modern DevOps practices — from CI/CD pipelines to containerization and serverless solutions.
• Partner with development teams to streamline deployments and optimise cloud-based services.
• Manage critical processes including disaster recovery, compliance, and incident response.
• Contribute hands-on when needed, staying close to the technology while steering strategy.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?
An ideal candidate has the following qualities:

Essential:

• Leadership experience (2+ years) guiding or mentoring DevOps teams.
• Strong cloud expertise; especially in AWS — with 5+ years of building and supporting systems.
• Solid background in automation and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS), and serverless (Lambda, Step Functions).
• Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python, Go, or Ruby) plus strong Linux and security knowledge.
• Familiarity with Git tools (GitHub, Bitbucket, Jenkins).
• Agile mindset with a collaborative, problem-solving approach.

Desirable:

• an AWS certification (DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator, or Solutions Architect)
