The Packing Manager will implement best practices in sorting, grading, food safety, and documentation, ensuring compliance with quality standards such as HACCP and GAP while maintaining a disciplined and organized work environment.

  • Oversee Daily Packing Operations: Manage, supervise, and coordinate all packing house activities to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient packing of fresh produce.
  • Monitor Quality and Grading Standards: Ensure all products meet required specifications, customer standards, and internal quality parameters before dispatch.
  • Implement Food Safety and Compliance: Enforce HACCP, GAP, GMP, and other food safety protocols; ensure proper hygiene, sanitation, and documentation across the packing area.
  • Manpower Planning & Supervision: Schedule, assign, and monitor packing staff; ensure adequate manpower coverage; conduct coaching, discipline, and performance monitoring.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee materials such as packaging supplies, labels, crates, and consumables; ensure accurate usage, tracking, and reporting.
  • Cold Chain & Product Handling: Ensure correct handling, temperature control, sorting, and staging of produce to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
  • Maintain Packing SOPs and Documentation: Create, implement, and update standard operating procedures, checklists, and production records.
  • Productivity & Yield Monitoring: Track daily output, reject rates, line efficiency, labor utilization, and ensure continuous process improvement.
  • Coordination with QA/QC: Work closely with the QA/QC team for quality control, defect reporting, corrective actions, and audits.
  • Coordination with Logistics / Dispatch: Ensure timely preparation of orders, proper labeling, loading schedules, and delivery accuracy.
  • Ensure Cleanliness and 5S Discipline: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized packing house; enforce strict adherence to 5S and housekeeping rules.
  • Training & Development: Train staff on packing standards, food safety, equipment use, and updated SOPs.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Ensure packing machines, tools, tables, and pre-cooling areas are properly maintained and operational.
  • Issue Resolution: Quickly address quality issues, shortages, packing errors, or operational bottlenecks.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit daily production reports, yield summaries, manpower utilization, and discrepancy reports to management.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of packing operations for fresh produce.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (inventory, reports, tracking sheets).
  • Ability to create and follow SOPs, packing standards, and quality checklists.
  • Good communication and reporting skills (verbal and written).

Preferred / Advantage:

  • Training or certification in HACCP, GAP, GMP, or other food safety programs.
  • Knowledge of cold chain handling.
