About the Role

The SEO Specialist will lead the strategy and execution of all search engine optimization efforts for both the company's website and its digital presence. This role is responsible for increasing organic visibility, improving keyword rankings, and driving qualified traffic aligned with the company's thought leadership and brand authority. You will work cross-functionally with the content, marketing, and web teams to implement technical and on-page SEO best practices, and monitor performance through analytics tools.

This is a strategic hands-on role ideal for someone who is both data-driven and creative — and who enjoys seeing the direct impact of their work in a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute SEO strategies that drive organic traffic and improve keyword rankings
• Perform comprehensive site audits and implement on-page, off-page, and technical SEO improvements
• Conduct keyword research and optimize website content accordingly
• Monitor performance using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush/Ahrefs, etc.
• Collaborate with content creators to develop SEO-friendly blogs, landing pages, and web assets
• Ensure website structure and page speed are optimized for search visibility
• Track and report KPIs, making data-backed recommendations for improvement
• Stay current on SEO trends, algorithm updates, and industry best practices

Competencies and Qualifications

Must-Have

• Strong understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking factors
• Experience with technical SEO, site architecture, and structured data
• Proficiency in SEO tools (Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with content optimization and keyword targeting
• Analytical mindset with ability to turn data into actionable insights
• Understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript (for SEO purposes)
• Examples/portfolios of website work and SEO improvement strategies/results
• Backlink strategy experience (beyond general SEO)

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS platforms
• Experience in B2B or professional services SEO
• Knowledge of local SEO strategies
• Basic familiarity with UX/UI and how it impacts SEO
• SEO-focused copywriting
• Familiarity with ChatGPT Atlas
