  1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications for vehicle bodies and components.
  2. Fabricate and assemble vehicle body frameworks using materials such as sheet metal, aluminium, reinforced plastics, wood (if applicable), structural frames, mounting panels etc.
  3. Use tools and equipment including guillotines/cutters, press brakes, welding machines (MIG/TIG/arc/spot), riveting machines, drilling/boring tools, bending machines, layout tools and other sheet-metal fabrication equipment.
  4. Cut, shape and prepare panels, frames and sub-assemblies and then install or weld them to chassis or body mounting points.
  5. Join, fit and finish body components by welding, bolting, riveting, aligning and securing parts to meet dimensional tolerances and structural requirements.
  6. Repair or replace damaged body parts, correct structural or panel misalignments, straighten frames or sub-frames (if applicable) and ensure good fit and finish.
  7. Prepare surfaces for finishing, which may include grinding, filing, sand-blasting, priming or prepping for paint.
  8. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety standards, quality control procedures, regulatory requirements (vehicle body integrity, materials, welding standards) and company policies.
  9. Maintain tools, equipment and work area—ensure cleanliness, organization and readiness of the fabrication/workshop environment.
  10. Collaborate with other trades (mechanical, paint, upholstery, trim) to ensure body meets overall vehicle build requirements and final hand-over standards.
  11. Optionally, assist in estimating materials, labor, or project timelines and support job scheduling or workflow optimization.
