Sr. Software Engineer

Night Shift

Remote

What you will be doing:

Architect and build:


• New backend services in Python to scale and expand our product offerings


• New frontend features using TypeScript with React or similar component-based frameworks on our existing applications


• Refactors of existing systems and features

Make recommendations on:


• Technologies to be used for new applications


• Improvements on existing applications

Scale, maintain and improve:


• Existing codebases and system infrastructures


• Testing and deployment capabilities to support rapid iterations in development, staging and production

Participate and contribute in:


• Pull requests


• Code reviews


• Project planning and management


• Ongoing improvement of engineering practices and procedures -- our "Sustainability Program"

Mentor:


• As the founding member of our Engineering team in the Philippines, you will be responsible for mentoring more junior engineers, assisting them with onboarding and helping them get up to speed with our product.

Who you are:

You've done this before.


• Deeply knowledgeable in coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques in at least one modern programming language (Python (preferred), JavaScript, Ruby), with working proficiency on a broader range of the stack.


• Built enterprise-level services with popular backend frameworks (e.g. Django, Ruby on Rails, NodeJS, Spring, Flask, etc.)


• Hands-on experience building modern, dynamic user interfaces using React (or similar frameworks), including component-based architecture, state management (e.g., Redux or Context API), and integrating with RESTful APIs.


• Experience building data-driven systems that have high availability, optimize for performance, and are highly scalable


• Experienced with modern SQL and NoSQL databases, know when to use each and how to build performant systems on top of them


• Skilled at building cloud-native services at scale and working with core AWS services like EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, ElasticBeanstalk, Lambda, Cloudwatch, SQS, Kinesis and SNS.


• Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) is a plus


• Able to communicate clearly and concisely in both written & verbal English to chat easily with globally distributed teams
