About the Role

The WordPress Development Assistant Manager supports the management and execution of web development projects using WordPress. This role oversees the technical team, ensures high-quality deliverables, and assists in the planning, development, and maintenance of the company's websites and digital platforms. The position requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership ability, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Supervise and mentor WordPress developers and designers.
  • Assist in resource allocation, task assignments, and performance evaluations.

  • Support the Web Development Manager in setting technical standards and workflows.

  • Technical Development

  • Oversee and participate in front-end and back-end WordPress development.
  • Customize themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements.
  • Ensure site performance optimization, responsiveness, and security compliance.

  • Manage version control using Git and other development tools.

  • Project Management

  • Collaborate with project managers and designers to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Track development progress, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

  • Review and test websites for bugs and performance issues prior to deployment.

  • Quality Assurance & Maintenance

  • Implement best practices for coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Conduct code reviews and maintain consistency across projects.

  • Manage site updates, backups, and security monitoring.

  • Stakeholder Communication

  • Liaise with internal teams and external clients to gather requirements and provide updates.
  • Translate technical requirements into business-friendly language.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 4–6 years of WordPress development experience.

  • 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity preferred.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Experience with popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, WooCommerce, and custom post types.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and performance optimization.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
