POSITION TITLE: TECHNICIAN
REPORTS TO: Chief Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of radio equipment, as well as receiving and transmitting communication.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Maintain programming logs as required by station management.
o Control audio equipment in order to regulate the volume and sound quality during radio broadcast.
o Monitor clarity and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcast.
o Regulate the brightness and contrast of the transmission.
o Observe monitors and converse with station personnel in order to determine audio levels and to ascertain that programs are airing.
o Preview scheduled programs to ensure that signals are functioning and programs are ready for transmission.
o Report equipment problems and ensure that repairs are made, make emergency repairs to equipment when necessary.
o Record sound onto tape for radio program, checking its quality and making adjustments when necessary.
o Align antennae with receiving dishes in order to obtain the clearest signal for transmission of broadcast from field locations.
o Schedule programming logs in order to determine which programs are to be recorded or aired.
o Edit broadcast materials for airing.
o Create and design basic graphics, layouts and visual assets for livestreams and video content.
o Edit recorded video content for online platforms and social media.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
o Must be a graduate in electronic technology with associate degree in broadcast technology, Information Technology, Computer Science
o have worked in radio and news broadcasting with hands-on training on all the radio equipment
o Have tolerance for inconsistent work hours and off-hours repair calls.
o Strong speaking and listening skills to communicate with co-workers
o with frequency experience, strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
