Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper with knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance requirements. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day financial transactions, ensure accurate record-keeping, and support the business in meeting statutory obligations under Australian law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing and supplier payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements.
  • Prepare BAS (Business Activity Statements), GST, PAYG withholding, and other compliance-related reports.
  • Prepare payroll and superannuation contributions in line with Australian legislation.
  • Generate financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Liaise with external accountants or auditors during annual reporting and tax audits.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience in Australia.
  • Proficiency in Australian accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks Online).
  • Solid understanding of Australian tax laws, GST, BAS, and payroll requirements.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data.
  • Effective communication skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Optional / Preferred:

  • Experience liaising with the ATO (Australian Taxation Office).
  • Bookkeeping certification (e.g., Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping).
  • Experience with payroll software
