Accounting Team Lead

Job Summary
The Accounting Team Leader oversees the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, ensuring all financial activities are accurate, timely, and compliant with established standards. This position leads a team of accountants, supports efficient workflow, strengthens internal controls, and contributes to the organization's financial objectives through effective reporting and guidance.
Key Responsibilities1. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and support the accounting staff in carrying out daily tasks.
- Delegate responsibilities, track progress, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Provide mentoring, training, and constructive performance evaluations.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a productive, collaborative working environment.
2. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare, evaluate, and present financial reports for management use.
- Assist in audit processes by supplying necessary documentation and clarifications.
3. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Strengthen and monitor internal control procedures to minimize risks and errors.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax partners, and government agencies as needed.
4. Process Optimization
- Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance accounting efficiency.
- Contribute to automation and digital transformation initiatives in the finance function.
- Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting activities.
5. Budgeting & Forecasting Assistance
- Participate in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Offer financial insights and recommendations to aid in strategic planning and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong understanding of accounting regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or equivalent, along with advanced MS Excel skills.
