Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Medical Biller who has strong knowledge of Medicare, HMOs, and commercial insurances, specifically for a physician who does facility visits and hospital rounding (hospitalist). The ideal candidate must be proficient in using Tebra (formerly Kareo) and understand the unique billing requirements for facility-based services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Submit claims accurately for facility visits (SNF, ALF, etc.) and hospitalist services.
  • Work with Medicare, HMOs, and commercial insurance carriers to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Manage claim rejections, denials, and follow-ups.
  • Verify patient insurance and eligibility when necessary.
  • Post payments and reconcile EOBs/ERAs.
  • Handle AR follow-up and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Understand CPT, ICD-10, and modifier use for facility-based billing.
  • Communicate effectively with the office, providers, and insurance companies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience.
  • Experience with Tebra/Kareo is required.
  • Must have direct experience billing for hospitalists and/or facility visits (SNFs, ALFs, board & cares, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, HMO plans, and commercial insurances.
  • Knowledge of coding, billing guidelines, and modifier usage for inpatient and facility claims.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with California-based HMOs is a plus.
  • Experience billing for both professional and facility-based services.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to internal medicine, geriatrics, or hospitalist care.
