Job Title: Bookkeeping Support (Xero Specialist)

Location: Remote UK (Philippines-Based)

Working Hours: Finalized upon client confirmation

Applicants must have prior experience providing bookkeeping services to UK-BASED CLIENTS. Bookkeepers applicants should have direct experience handling UK VAT processes, including return preparation, transaction coding, and ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines. They are also up to date with the latest developments under HMRC's Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative and will ensure that all bookkeeping and reporting processes remain fully compatible with the upcoming regulatory changes set to take effect in the current year.

Core Responsibilities

Xero Management

  • Maintain up-to-date bookkeeping within Xero, including bills, invoices, journals, and payment allocations.
  • Support multiple UK-based entities with accurate financial data recording.

Bank Feed Reconciliation

  • Set up and reconcile bank feeds (e.g., 1st Century Bank, others as needed).
  • Perform timely reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and payment platforms.

Transaction Categorization

  • Review and categorize all financial transactions in Xero.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across accounts and entities.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of Trial Balance, Profit & Loss, and Balance Sheet reports.
  • Generate and maintain monthly management accounts for internal use and review.

Financial KPIs & Performance Monitoring

  • Collaborate with leadership to define key financial KPIs.
  • Monitor and review performance metrics on a monthly basis.

VAT Handling

  • Support and prepare VAT return submissions in line with the client's reporting schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with UK VAT requirements and accurate documentation.

Software Migration & Data Cleanup

  • Assist with migration from legacy systems or platforms to Xero.
  • Clean, map, and align historical financial data with the current Chart of Accounts.

Report Generation

  • Produce routine and ad hoc financial summaries.
  • Deliver actionable insights to support business strategy and decision-making.
