Job Summary:

The Internal Audit Officer – Civil Engineer is responsible for conducting technical audits and inspections related to civil works, construction projects, and infrastructure maintenance within the mall complex and other company properties. This role ensures that engineering standards, building codes, project specifications, and company policies are adhered to, while identifying risks, cost inefficiencies, and non-compliance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Audits & Inspections

  • Conduct regular inspections of construction, renovation, and maintenance projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Assess structural integrity, workmanship, and adherence to building codes and safety regulations.
  • Evaluate the quality and adequacy of materials used in projects.

2. Compliance & Risk Assessment

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, contract terms, and procurement policies.
  • Identify potential engineering and operational risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Verify contractor performance and adherence to timelines.

3. Cost & Documentation Review

  • Audit project cost estimates, billings, and change orders for accuracy and justification.
  • Review as-built plans, permits, and project documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor project expenditures to detect overpricing, wastage, or misallocation of resources.

4. Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations teams to gather necessary data.
  • Prepare technical audit reports with findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of civil works.
  • Keep updated with the latest engineering technologies, materials, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (licensed Civil Engineer preferred).
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in construction, engineering project management, or quality control; experience in audit or inspection roles is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic engineering software (AutoCAD, etc.).
  • High level of integrity, objectivity, and professionalism.
