Provides comprehensive administrative and accounting support to an accounting department or team, handling a wide range of tasks including financial record keeping, invoice processing, and general bookkeeping. They work with both manual and computer-based bookkeeping systems, and may also be involved in tasks like payroll processing, budget tracking, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, and reconciling accounts.
  • Invoice Processing: Processing invoices, sales receipts, and customer payments, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Assisting with accounts payable and receivable transactions, such as processing payments and tracking receivables.
  • Payroll Processing: Assisting with payroll processing, including calculating wages and issuing checks.
  • Budget Tracking: Tracking expenses, evaluating budgets, and preparing financial presentations.
  • Financial Reporting: Contributing to the preparation of financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • General Office Support: Providing general administrative support, including filing, answering phones, and responding to emails.
  • Data Entry: Entering financial data into accounting spreadsheets.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconciling bank statements with accounting records.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accounting knowledge: Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail: Accuracy is crucial in accounting tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Good organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Math skills: Strong mathematical abilities are essential for accounting tasks.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze financial data and identify potential issues.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Experience: Prior experience in accounting or related fields is preferred.

A Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business Management, or a related field is generally required.
