Role Summary

Design, build, and maintain automated ELT data pipelines that centralize Amazon and related business data into an on-premise PostgreSQL data warehouse. Own the full data flow — from API extraction to transformation and delivery — enabling analytics, reporting, and AI-driven automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated ELT pipelines to integrate data from Amazon SP-API, Advertising API, and other internal/external systems into PostgreSQL.
  • Implement and orchestrate data workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Prefect to manage ingestion, transformation, and model dependencies.
  • Transform and model data inside PostgreSQL, building structured, analytics-ready layers (staging → core → marts) following best ELT practices.
  • Write robust Python and SQL scripts for data extraction, validation, and scheduled automation tasks.
  • Define and enforce data quality, validation, and freshness checks to ensure reliable and accurate reporting.
  • Design and optimize schemas, indexes, and queries to handle growing data volumes efficiently.
  • Version and deploy pipeline code using Git and CI/CD pipelines (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment) to ensure consistent, automated releases.
  • Deliver clean, trusted datasets to Power BI dashboards (and optionally Tableau) for business and operations reporting.
  • Monitor pipeline performance and warehouse health using logging and observability tools such as Grafana or DataDog.
  • Maintain clear documentation for data models, processes, and workflows.

Must-Have Skills

  • Python and SQL expertise
  • Strong understanding of ELT workflows
  • Hands-on experience with Airflow, dbt for orchestration and transformation
  • Proficiency with Git and understanding of CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of data modeling and schema design for analytics
  • Data validation and quality assurance scripting
  • Integration experience with REST APIs and JSON payloads
  • Ability to build and maintain Power BI data feeds and datasets

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Data transformation in PostgreSQL
  • Amazon SP-API, Ads API
  • Understanding of monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, DataDog)
  • Background in Amazon retail / e-commerce data
  • Experience with SQL optimization and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with ETL tools or legacy ETL processes and Prefect
  • Experience with Tableau for reporting
  • Exposure to cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure SQL)
  • Familiarity with Docker, DevOps, or infrastructure automation
