The
Operations Manager
oversees
daily waste collection activities
, ensuring routes are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local regulations. The role manages field teams, drivers, helpers, equipment scheduling, route planning, and coordination with local government units or clients. This position ensures smooth operations, resolves service issues, and looks after workforce performance, safety, and resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Oversight

  • Supervise daily garbage collection activities, including route assignments and completion.
  • Ensure timely dispatch, monitoring, and return of trucks.
  • Maintain service standards based on contract requirements or LGU guidelines.

2. Route and Workforce Management

  • Optimize routes to reduce fuel consumption and maximize efficiency.
  • Manage drivers, dispatchers, monitoring, garbage collectors, and support staff.
  • Monitor attendance, deployment, and work schedules.

3. Equipment and Fleet Coordination

  • Coordinate with the fleet/mechanical team for truck availability, preventive maintenance, and breakdown handling.
  • Ensure all units comply with LTO, DENR, and local environmental safety requirements.

4. Safety, Compliance, and Quality Control

  • Enforce safety protocols for waste handling and vehicle operation.
  • Monitor and report incidents, accidents, or delays.
  • Ensure compliance with RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act) and local ordinances.

5. Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the main contact for LGUs, barangay leaders, or client representatives regarding complaints, schedules, and reports.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.

6. Administrative and Budget Support

  • Assist in cost monitoring for fuel, manpower, and equipment usage.
  • Support planning for manpower, route expansion, or service improvements.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • A diploma in logistics, operations, or waste management is an advantage.

Experience

  • At least
    5 to 7 years of experience
    in waste collection operations, sanitation services, trucking, logistics, or construction;
    2-3 years of which is in a supervisory or managerial
    role handling manpower-intensive operations.
  • Background in
    route planning or fleet management is highly preferred
    .

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of RA 9003 and local waste collection protocols.
  • Understanding of fleet dispatching, route optimization, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret GPS data, fuel reports, and route performance metrics.
