Position Overview
:
The Market Data Distribution Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of market data to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. This role involves managing data feeds, maintaining distribution systems, and collaborating with various departments to meet the data needs of the organization. The specialist also focuses on optimizing data distribution processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
:

Data Distribution Management:

  • Monitor and manage real-time data feeds from various sources, ensuring uninterrupted and accurate data flow.
  • Collaborate with data vendors to resolve any feed-related issues, including data quality, latency, and connectivity.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of data distribution technologies, protocols, and tools.

System Maintenance:

  • Administer and maintain data distribution platforms and systems.
  • Perform regular system checks, upgrades, and troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted data delivery.
  • Implement security measures to protect data during distribution.

Data Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with data quality teams to ensure the accuracy and consistency of distributed data.
  • Implement validation and verification processes to identify and address discrepancies or anomalies in the distributed data.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including trading desks, analysts, and IT teams, to understand data requirements and optimize distribution processes.
  • Communicate effectively with data vendors to resolve issues, negotiate terms, and manage vendor relationships.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Monitor data distribution performance, including latency and throughput, and implement improvements to enhance speed and reliability.
  • Create and maintain performance reports for management and stakeholders.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data distribution processes, protocols, and configurations.
  • Prepare regular reports detailing data distribution metrics, issues, and improvements.

Technical Expertise:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data distribution technologies.
  • Provide technical insights and recommendations for optimizing data distribution workflows.

Change Management:

  • Coordinate with the change management team to ensure seamless integration of new data feeds and system upgrades.
  • Test and validate changes to data distribution systems before implementation.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a market data distribution role or a similar position within the financial industry.
  • Understanding of financial markets, instruments, and data types (equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.).
  • Familiarity in data distribution technologies and protocols (e.g., FIX,FTP, FAST, multicast, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data distribution platforms and systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve data distribution issues.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • SQL knowledge is a plus.
