Job description

Forklift Technician Trainee

The Forklift Technician Trainee assists in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of forklifts and other material handling equipment. This role is designed for entry-level candidates to learn technical skills, safety protocols, and operational procedures under the guidance of senior technicians.

Duties & Responsibilities (D&R):

  • Assist in Equipment Maintenance:
  • Support senior technicians in routine maintenance and minor repairs of forklifts.
  • Learn to inspect forklifts for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:
  • Observe and assist in diagnosing forklift malfunctions.
  • Perform basic repairs under supervision, including replacement of parts and fluids.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Help record maintenance work, inspections, and repairs in maintenance logs.
  • Report issues or recurring faults to senior technicians or supervisor.
  • Training & Skill Development:
  • Attend technical training sessions provided by the company.
  • Learn to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Support Operations Team:
  • Assist with forklift pre-operation inspections before use.
  • Help ensure forklifts are in good working condition for daily operations.
