This role, Crewing Manager reports to Senior Crewing Manager and supervises Assistant Crewing Manager, Crew Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all crewing activities of assigned fleet as appropriate.
  • Conducts interview/screening of new applicants and agreement with ex-crew regarding new assignment; secure hiring approval by principal of new candidates, ex-officers and key personnel; adhere to principal sea staff manual for placement of crew onboard; prepare rotation program and communicates same to principal; coordinates repatriation; maintain roster of crew; welcomes and interviews repatriated crew.
  • Hires and directs for deployment processing e.g. medical examinations, training and employment contracts and other necessary departure clearances. Plans and monitors deployment processing to attain timely and cost-effective crew change. Approves outward messages concerning flight schedules/crew changes.
  • After coordination with the Principals, set recruitment goals and discuss requirements with the immediate superior and the Recruitment Team.
  • Monitors whereabouts of candidates who passed the selection process thru the Recruitment Team.
  • Orients seafarers about main terms/conditions of employment contract and collective bargaining agreement, company/vessel policies, vessel features, safety awareness/practices, cultural understanding, and other particular conditions for the job to which they are engaged.
  • Liaises/responds to shipping principals, captains and local agents for visa and crew change requirements.
  • Prepares rotation plan, monitors crew with potential for promotion, motivates to understudy and acquire higher license; coordinates repatriation; maintains roster of crew; coaches/provides counselling to crew; interviews repatriated crew and follow feedback mechanism for important concern.
  • Directs forwarding of messages of family members and relatives to principal for on-forwarding to vessel concerned; provides counselling to same whenever appropriate.
  • Attends to visiting guests/principals; visits vessels calling Philippine ports and foreign ports, if required.
  • Approves/coordinates requests of family members/relatives to contact crew or send messages to vessels. Provides counselling to same as appropriate.
  • Notifies government agencies, embassies and other entities relevant information like death, serious accidents and estimated length of hospitalisation abroad, missing seafarers and others following company procedure for the same.
  • Other duties as may be directed by superiors.

Qualification

  • Sailing exp as Chief Engineer or Second Engineer on Oil tankers
  • Min one year shore experience in Manning/Crewing
