Theater Crew

Job Summary:

The Theater Crew Member plays a vital role in the technical execution of performances and events. This position involves hands-on work across multiple areas, including stage mechanics, rigging, lighting and sound operation, and audiovisual (AV) support. The crew member ensures that all technical elements run smoothly, safely, and professionally before, during, and after productions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stage Mechanics:

• Assist in the setup, maintenance, and operation of stage elements such as platforms, turntables, lifts, and curtains.
• Execute scene changes and other on-stage technical cues with precision and timing.
• Ensure stage equipment is in safe working condition and report any issues promptly.

2. Rigging:

• Install, inspect, and operate rigging systems including counterweights, trusses, and motorized hoists.
• Secure lighting, set pieces, and AV equipment safely above the stage and audience areas.
• Follow proper rigging protocols and adhere to safety regulations at all times.

3. Console Board Operation (Lighting):

• Program and operate lighting consoles for performances, rehearsals, and events.
• Assist with hang, focus, and maintenance of theatrical lighting fixtures.
• Work closely with the lighting designer and stage manager to execute lighting cues accurately.

4. AV and Sound Operation:

• Set up, test, and operate microphones, soundboards, speakers, projectors, and other AV equipment.
• Mix live audio during performances and manage playback of pre-recorded sound.
• Troubleshoot audio and video issues and ensure clear communication during events.
