Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Interventional Nurse
a. Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
b. Demonstrates effective communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
c. Demonstrates flexibility as and when required.
d. Provides direct care to assigned patients.
e. Perform other duties as needed and deemed necessary by the supervisor.
2. Injection Nurse
a. Performs constancy check using BA 133 and Cs 137 on a daily basis with a dose calibrator and keeps a record thereof.
b. Receive radiopharmaceutical from Khealth Corporation rider.
c. Check for any precautions the patient may have.
d. Check for patient allergies and other medical condition that needs special attention.
e. Takes extra precaution to prevent radioactive spill.
f. Obtain / insert and remove IV punctures at different parts of the body observing the optimum level and quality of care.
g. Independently performs duties and assumes responsibility for care of the patients.
h. Monitors patient for any adverse reactions and ensures that the tubing, bandage and needle star in place for the entire duration of the procedure.
i. Prepare and administer radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals.
j. Primarily injects contrast media to patient with radiologic technologist assistance.
k. Facilitates the administration of the radioactive tracer thru a patent Intravenous line, in accordance to the standards set by the PNRI practicing the ALARA radiation safety principle and document as required.
l. Monitors the patient's physical condition during the course of the procedure.
m. Assists the radiologic technologist in patient positioning and scanning, in scan images processing and release.
n. Accomplish forms being required of PNRI for compliance.
o. Reassess and document interventions and desired outcomes.
p. Monitors and ensures the safety of patients at all times.
q. Assists injecting contrast media to patient with radiologic technologist assistance.
r. Performs closely with other member of the health care team, including but is not limited to consultants/ Radiology Physicians and Nuclear Medicine doctors.
s. Reassessing patients after their procedure and providing care until they are ready to be discharged.
t. Performs closely with other member of the health care team, including but is not limited to consultants/ Radiology Physicians and Nuclear Medicine doctors.
u. Responsible for safe and secure storage and use of the radioactive pharmaceutical maintaining statuary records of.
v. Monitor the area including patient lounges for any sign of radioactive contamination and directly inform the RSO and ARSO.
w. Perform other duties as needed and deemed necessary by the supervisor.
3. Interview Nurse
a. Takes medical history, summarizes data and states nursing diagnoses or patient care needs.
b. Observes and records signs, symptoms, and behavior including physiological and mental status of patients, presents the assessment of changes, the proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes.
c. Demonstrates the ability to assess patients understanding and compliance with instructions and health care teachings.
d. Explains the procedure well using common language and executes physicians' order if warranted or effectively communicate this to the member of the multidisciplinary team as well as provide reassurance in the patients especially in the pediatrics.
e. Obtain and interpret laboratory data, pathology reports when available, review of preparations and medication, pertinent vital signs including capillary blood glucose monitoring.
f. Discuss with patients and relatives the potential side effects of the contrast media or the radioactive pharmaceutical and what must be done after the procedure.
g. Assess patients' tolerability of the procedure and must obtain a secured consent on behalf of the medical team.
h. Responsible for securing patient's or patient's authorized representative consent before any steps necessary for procedure is done.
i. Check patient Capillary Blood Glucose before the start of procedure.
j. Perform other duties as needed and deemed necessary by the supervisor.
