A. General Job Description
- Uphold and embody the Mission, Vision, and Policies of the Nursing Division and the Hospital.
- Stay updated and comply with new rules, regulations, policies, memos, and circulars, ensuring their proper implementation.
- Participate actively in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs to enhance the quality of care in the unit and hospital.
- Take part in emergency response activities within the unit and hospital.
- Attend monthly staff meetings, seminars, and other activities organized by the Nursing Service Division.
- Take responsibility for personal professional development through seminars, conferences, and continuous nursing education.
- Guide and supervise new nurses, nursing aides, attendants, and student affiliates in daily routines, nursing procedures, documentation, and patient handovers.
- Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, and procedures to safeguard the hospital's integrity.
- Comply with all safety and health regulations in the workplace.
- Set a positive example by avoiding unexplained absences, tardiness, and undertimes; observe professional appearance and maintain proper uniform and grooming standards.
B. Clinical Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to review treatment plans, orders, and progress notes per established protocols.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare team members to meet patient needs.
- Provide thorough shift endorsements and ensure accurate, updated patient data in charts and Kardex.
- Conduct vital signs monitoring, nursing assessments through patient history and clinical inspection, and use findings to plan nursing care.
- Perform regular rounds to familiarize with patients and monitor IV lines, drains, catheters, postoperative sites, and room cleanliness.
- Accompany doctors during rounds to stay informed on care plans and assist with assessments.
- Share observations of patients' physical and behavioral conditions with physicians.
- Execute doctors' orders promptly and document all relevant information.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing care and observations from admission to discharge.
- Foster a therapeutic environment by interacting with patients and families to reduce anxiety and fear.
- Follow and monitor infection control protocols rigorously.
- Apply terminal and concurrent disinfection and isolation techniques to prevent infection spread.
- Demonstrate nursing skills, including:
a. IV line insertion, blood transfusions, and chemotherapy facilitation
b. Providing comfort measures such as sponge baths, repositioning, backrubs, compresses, and oral care
c. Administering medications with strict adherence to the "10 Rights" of medication administration and patient education
d. Operating and monitoring medical equipment like sphygmomanometers, cardiac monitors, ventilators, glucometers, pulse oximeters, suction machines, nebulizers, and infusion pumps
e. Caring for patients with tracheostomy tubes and colostomy bags
f. Managing enteral feeding via nasogastric and gastrostomy tubes
g. Monitoring patients on mechanical ventilators, including suctioning and early complication detection
h. Assisting in emergency care during CPR and intubation, administering emergency drugs as per hospital policy
i. Measuring intake and output in critical cases such as massive bleeding, shock, and post-operative patients
j. Providing post-operative care and health teaching to promote recovery and prevent complications
k. Preparing patients for surgery, including hygiene assistance, pre-op meds, NPO reminders, enemas, and checklist completion
- Facilitate patient discharge and provide comprehensive health education to patients and families, including rehabilitation, diet, medications, scheduled follow-ups, and sanitation.
- Deliver care with respect to patient diversity, preserving autonomy, dignity, and rights without judgment or discrimination.
- Act as a patient advocate, upholding patients' fundamental rights, values, and beliefs.
C. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Open to applicants with or without work experience
- Fresh board passers are welcome
- Member of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)
- Available to start immediately
