
Chief Legal and Audit Officer

The Chief Legal and Audit Officer is responsible for reviewing legal documents pertaining to the institutions vision and mission. He/She is also responsible for checking if the institution practices and policies are complaint with the Philippine Labor Laws, DOLE, CHED, and DepED. The Chief Legal and Audit Officer is responsible for overseeing the works of the audit department, monitoring financial transactions and unliquidated transactions of the other departments.
Specific Accountabilities/Activities
As a Chief Legal, he/she responsible for the legal counsel for the Southville companies, overseeing and coordinating all legal activities to ensure compliance with applicable law. Key duties include:
I. Legal Services and Advice:
Monitor and provide legal services, including preparing and reviewing contracts.
Issue legal opinions to Presidents, Boards of Directors, and officers on matters concerning students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ensure the Group is fully represented in any judicial, administrative, regulatory, or similar proceedings.
Report directly to and primarily advise the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). They must also provide legal advice and services to other Boards of Directors as needed.
II. Policy and Compliance:
Assist in developing, maintaining, or modifying policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
Keep fully informed on all legislation and regulatory developments affecting operations and inform management of material changes in law.
As Audit Officer, he/she is responsible for the follow key duties:
III. Department Management and Budget:
Review and control the Group's legal and audit budget and expenditures, aiming for optimum resource deployment within the budget.
Develop and direct the legal and audit department, including proper staffing (attorneys, paralegals, and support staff).
Supervise and direct the employees of the audit department.
Supervise, direct, monitor, and evaluate selected outside attorneys.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree relevant to the field of discipline. Master's degree/Juris doctor is an advantage
- Must have a license to practice law
- Must have a good foundation in the Philippine Labor law, CHED, and DepEd policies.
- Preferably with relevant experience in law or legal counsel in academe industry.
- Proficient in computer application
- Excellent in oral and written communication skills
- Must be of good moral character
