Job Brief:We are seeking an experienced Steel Detailer with specialized expertise in bar grating and miscellaneous metals, including stairs, handrails, supports, embeds, and custom fabrications. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Tekla Structures, with experience in Advance Steel considered a strong advantage. This role involves creating precise 2D and 3D models, detailed shop drawings, and material takeoffs in alignment with project specifications and contract requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely shop drawings for bar grating and miscellaneous metal fabrications using Tekla Structures.
  • Interpret and extract detailed information from structural and architectural drawings.
  • Produce comprehensive fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and engineers to resolve design and detailing issues.
  • Ensure that all drawings comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation and manage drawing revisions efficiently.
  • Participate in model reviews, clash detection, and coordination with other trades when necessary.
  • Work closely with internal teams to meet project milestones and tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in steel detailing for bar grating and miscellaneous metals.
  • Proficient in Tekla Structures; working knowledge of Advance Steel is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication practices, shop standards, and field installation requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings accurately.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English (required).
  • Familiarity with AISC, OSHA, and related industry codes is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or for a grating manufacturer or miscellaneous metals fabricator.
  • Knowledge of galvanizing and finishing processes.
  • Experience generating CNC export files for shop equipment.

Associate degree or technical training in drafting, engineering, or a related field.
