Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance:Performing basic maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Assisting with Repairs:Helping experienced mechanics with disassembly and reassembly of parts for more complex repairs.
  • Workstation Management:Cleaning and organizing the workshop, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  • Vehicle Preparation:Preparing vehicles for service, which may include washing, moving, and inspecting them.
  • Tool and Equipment Care:Cleaning, maintaining, and organizing tools and equipment for the mechanic's use.
  • Inventory and Parts:Assisting with ordering, receiving, and organizing parts and supplies.
  • Record Keeping:Documenting repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed as required.
  • Following Safety Procedures:Adhering to all established safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Mechanical Aptitude:A strong interest and basic mechanical ability.
  • Attention to Detail:The ability to notice important details and follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to Learn:A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude to gain new skills.
  • Work Ethic:A strong work ethic and the ability to be resourceful.
  • Physical Ability:The ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and pushing.
  • Education:A high school diploma or equivalent is often a requirement.
  • Experience:Prior experience in auto repair or with heavy equipment is desirable but not always mandatory.
