Universal Robina Corporation Sugar and Renewables La Carlota Distillery is looking for an Accounting Supervisor.

What are the Roles and Responsibilities?

The Accounting Supervisor plays a critical leadership role within the Finance and Accounting function, responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The role supervises accounting personnel, reviews key financial documents, ensures compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and provides essential support in the preparation of monthly and year-end reports. The Accounting Supervisor works closely with the Plant Finance Manager and other departments to ensure effective budget monitoring, cost control, and financial transparency.

What are the Roles and Responsibilities?

1. Accounting Operations Oversight

2. Supervise daily accounting activities and ensure that all transactions are accurately and promptly recorded.

3. Review and post payment documents, sugar & molasses traders' assessments, and journal vouchers for accruals and adjusting entries.

4. Oversee asset posting for construction in progress and budget tracking of various accounts.

5. Budgeting and Expense Monitoring

6. Review and consolidate departmental Operating Expenses (OPEX) budget submissions.

7. Monitor and report actual expenses versus budget for travel, transportation, and trucking incentives.

8. Assist in budget planning, variance analysis, and implementation of spending controls.

9. Reporting and Compliance

10. Prepare and consolidate monthly reports including schedules of operating expenses, production costs, and reports to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

11. Ensure timely submission of accurate reports to Head Office and government agencies.

12. Provide data support for BOI (Board of Investments) compliance and other regulatory needs.

13. Process Improvement and SAP Utilization

14. Maintain SAP accuracy by reviewing entries, ensuring proper posting, and reconciling accounts.

15. Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and audit-readiness.

16. Lead efforts in ensuring that accounting processes are aligned with company standards and SAP system functionalities.

17. Leadership and Team Management

18. Supervise and coach accounting personnel, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and timelines.

19. Promote collaboration within the finance team and with other departments to support cross-functional goals.

20. Provide technical guidance and ensure continuous development of team members.

21. Asset and Scrap Management

22. Facilitate bidding and disposal of scrap items and ensure compliance with asset management policies.

23. Oversee the accuracy of asset posting and monitor asset-related transactions in SAP.

24. Other Tasks and Support Functions

25. Coordinate with internal departments to gather, verify, and reconcile financial data.

26. Perform other duties assigned by the Plant Finance Manager, especially in support of audits and month-end close activities.

What are the Qualifications?

1. Educational and Professional Background

2. Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Finance; CPA is an advantage.

3. At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

4. Technical Proficiency

5. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; SAP experience is highly preferred.

6. Strong understanding of journal entries, cost accounting, asset posting, and budget monitoring.

7. Leadership and Supervisory Skills

8. Demonstrated ability to lead and coach accounting personnel.

9. Ability to manage workload under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.

10. Analytical and Organizational Skills

11. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

12. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in handling large volumes of data.

13. Ethics and Compliance

14. Good moral character and commitment to ethical accounting practices.

15. Knowledge of tax regulations and industry-specific compliance requirements.
