Job Description

We are looking for a talented Animatic Artist & Video Editor to join our faceless YouTube channel focused on ships, naval engineering, and the maritime industry. The ideal candidate should have experience in creating detailed animatics and video editing for YouTube, with a passion for crafting engaging and educational visual content. You will play a crucial role in developing high-quality visual storytelling that simplifies complex technical subjects for our animators to be able to understand and create amazing animations that are visually appealing to our audience.

This is a long-term freelance opportunity, requiring the creation of 1-2 videos minutes each) per week. We seek a professional who can consistently deliver high-quality work and is eager to grow with our team.

Key Responsibilities Animatics:

• Develop rough sketch sequences or storyboards that outline the flow of videos.
• Create low-fidelity motion visuals that provide a blueprint for the final animation.
• Ensure clarity in storytelling and transitions to enhance engagement.

Video Editing for YouTube:

• Build the video from the ground up a high-quality video, using the technical and detailed script and voice acting that are going to be provided, that enhance educational content related to ships, naval engineering, and maritime history.
• Utilize drawing, color, and composition techniques to bring technical concepts to life.
• Add visually appealing and dynamic texts.
• Add simple sound design elements to make the video more immersive.

General Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Producer and the team to ensure that the animatic and video editing align with video technical scripts and overall creative direction.
• Enhance complex maritime and engineering concepts with clear and compelling visual storytelling.
• Maintain high-quality standards for YouTube video content, ensuring all visuals are optimized for engagement and clarity.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as an animatic artist and/or illustrator, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills.
• Proficiency in digital illustration software (e.g., Procreate, Blender, or equivalent).
• Experience with one of these animatics software such as Blender, ProCreate, ProCreate Dreams, Adobe Photoshop, or equivalent.
• Experience with video editing software such as Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci Resolve, or Blender.
• Strong understanding of composition, color theory, and storytelling techniques.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for producing educational content.
• 3D animatic skills in Blender is a huge bonus

Technical Skills

• Strong illustration and drawing skills.
• Proficiency in animatic creation and motion design workflows.
• Experience in storyboarding and scene composition.
• Knowledge of YouTube video specs and best practices for engaging visuals.
• Familiarity with sound synchronization or working with simple sound designers is a plus.
