Job Summary:
The Procurement Manager in the logistics industry will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process of goods and services necessary for the organization's operational success. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that procurement activities align with the company's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement within the logistics sector, exceptional analytical skills, and a strong understanding of supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize the purchasing process and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards for logistics services and materials.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on capability, reliability, price, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, ensuring favorable conditions that align with the company's goals.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify cost-saving opportunities and innovative procurement solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, operations, and finance, to forecast procurement needs and support operational requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply and mitigate risks.
  • Manage procurement budgets and analyze purchasing data to report on financial performance and savings achieved.
  • Supervise procurement staff, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements within the procurement function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in the logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of successful contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost management and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in procurement software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, sourcing practices, and supply chain strategies.
