Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
  • Perform physical exams, diagnose illnesses, and treat health conditions.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and blood work.
  • Prescribe medications and develop and update treatment plans.
  • Record medical histories and progress notes in patient charts.
  • Coordinate patient care with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Arrange for patient discharge and arrange follow-up care.
  • Assist with medical procedures as required.
  • Documentation and Communication:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding their condition and treatment.
  • Collaborate with nurses and allied health professionals.
  • Education and Training:
  • Participate in daily ward rounds to assess patient progress and coordinate care.
  • Attend educational conferences, seminars, and rounds.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior medical staff and students under the guidance of attending physicians.
  • Emergency and On-Call Responsibilities:
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide care on the ward.
  • Make decisions about patient transfers when necessary.
  • Take the lead in various procedures and provide round-the-clock cover for patient care.
