Qualifications:

  • Must possess a solid understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and mettallurgy, especially with Black Iron & Stainless Steel and other materials common in sanitary environments. Must be able to select the right pipes, valves, and fittings for specific applications.

  • Must have a strong hands-on skill in cuttig, threading, grooving, bending, and assembling pipes. Must be able to fabricate custom supports and hangers for the piping systems and able to prepare the joints and "tack" the pipes in place for the welder to complete the final, seamless weld.

  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot issues, identify potential problems with a system, and perform repairs is essential which includes the knowledge how to perform/conduct pressure tests to check for leaks and ensuring the system is functioning correctly before commissioning.

  • Pipe fitter must work with extreme precision given the sanitary requirements and standards of the plant. Must be able to measure and align pipes perfectly to minimize gaps and ensure the welder can achieve a smooth, crevice-free interior weld.

  • Must be expert in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, isometric drawings, and schematics for accurate planning layouts, calculating dimensions, and ensuring the correct placement of all pipe components before any cutting or welding begins.

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces, as well as an understanding of food and hygiene regulations.
