Contract type : 1 year contract based with the possibility of its extension

Background

The JCM AWD Rice Project aims to reduce methane emissions from rice cultivation by promoting water-saving irrigation practices in collaboration with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), Irrigators' Associations (IAs), and local farmers. The Project Officer will be responsible for field-level implementation, including farmer training, coordination with IAs, and monitoring activities.

Scope of work

1.Coordination with NIA IMO and IAs

  • Coordinate with NIA Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) and support the enrollment of new Irrigators' Associations (IAs) into the project.

2.Farmer Training and Support

  • Assist on the conduct farmer training on AWD practices tailored to local conditions.
  • Provide technical support and follow-up to farmers for proper adoption of AWD.

3.Monitoring and Data Collection

  • Supervise monitoring activities and field monitoring staff to ensure data quality.
  • Collect, verify, and report water-level, irrigation, and field data as per JCM requirements.
  • Ensures AWD protocols are adapted by the farmer stakeholders.
  • Reports inconsistencies to the project coordinator in relation to the field-level implementation.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field (preferred but not strictly required).
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in agriculture extension, farmer training, or project implementation.
  • Experience coordinating with farmer groups, cooperatives, or IAs.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of rice cultivation and irrigation practices.
  • Residence nearby project area in Pampanga.

Reporting and Supervision

The Project Officer will report to Project Coordinators, and coordinate closely with NIA IMO officers, IAs, and field monitoring staff.
