Reports To: Postharvest Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Calinan, Davao City


Job Summary:

The Bean Quality Control In-Charge is responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of cacao beans through systematic testing, evaluation, and monitoring of post-harvest processes. This role involves implementing quality control standards, conducting sensory assessments, and ensuring that all beans meet company and market specifications.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Testing and Assessment of Cacao Beans

  • Conduct comprehensive sensory evaluations including flavor, aroma, texture, and overall bean quality.
  • Apply and maintain established testing protocols and quality standards.
  • Analyze evaluation data and generate insights for process optimization.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed quality assessment records to ensure traceability and reporting compliance.

2. Quality Control in Post-Harvest Processes

  • Monitor all post-harvest activities such as fermentation, drying, storage, and handling.
  • Identify deviations from set quality standards and initiate corrective actions.
  • Recommend process improvements to maintain and enhance cacao bean quality.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, market requirements, and sustainability programs.

3. Coordination and Reporting

  • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to maintain quality consistency.
  • Prepare regular quality reports and communicate findings to management.
  • Support training and awareness programs related to quality control and food safety.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Agricultural Science, or related field.
  • Preferably with 1–2 years of experience in quality control, food processing, or post-harvest operations (cacao experience is an advantage).
  • Knowledgeable in GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
