Job Summary

The Accounting and Compliance Lead is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures accuracy in financial management, adherence to internal controls, and compliance with government and statutory requirements. The Accounting and Compliance Manager also leads and develops the accounting team, ensuring operational efficiency and integrity in all financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Oversee the full spectrum of accounting functions, including budgeting, revenue, expenses, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and prepare financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Conduct account analysis, reconciliation, and ad hoc financial reporting as required by management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing with strict confidentiality.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with local government regulations, tax authorities, and other statutory bodies.
  • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Oversee the proper documentation and filing of financial and compliance records (both digital and physical).
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing necessary documentation.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Guide, mentor, and supervise junior accountants and accounting staff in their daily tasks and professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and decision-making.

Process Improvement & Strategic Support

  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize accounting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management in strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field (CPA certification preferred but not required).
  • 5+ years of progressive related experience with supervisory, lead, or managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Office applications; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
