Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Daily Financial Transactions: Oversee recording of invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Maintain General Ledger: Ensure all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Reconcile Accounts: Regularly reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements.
  • Prepare Financial Reports: Generate periodic reports such as profit & loss, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Supervise Junior Staff: Guide and review the work of junior bookkeepers or accounting assistants.
  • Assist with Payroll: Oversee payroll processing or liaise with payroll service providers.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Support Audits: Prepare documentation and assist auditors during internal or external audits.
  • Monitor Budgets: Track expenses against budgets and highlight variances.
  • Implement Process Improvements: Suggest and help implement more efficient bookkeeping procedures.

Job Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Several years (5+) of bookkeeping experience.
  • Proficient in bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with payroll and tax regulations is an advantage.
