Job Brief

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Drafter to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming architectural sketches and conceptual designs into precise 2D drawings and sophisticated 3D models for both residential and commercial projects. Your primary objective is to ensure all technical documentation is accurate and fully compliant with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards (AS), ensuring a seamless transition from the initial design phase through to on-site construction.

Responsibilities

• Technical Documentation – Prepare comprehensive and detailed drawing sets required for Development Applications (DA), Complying Development Certificates (CDC), and Construction Certificates (CC).

• 3D Modelling & BIM – Develop and manage high-fidelity models using ArchiCAD to ensure precise spatial coordination and effective clash detection.

• Compliance Management – Interpret and strictly apply the National Construction Code (NCC), local council Local Environmental Plans (LEPs), and Development Control Plans (DCPs).

• Consultant Collaboration – Coordinate closely with structural, civil, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineers to seamlessly integrate their specifications into the master architectural set.

• Detailed Scheduling – Create and maintain accurate schedules for windows, doors, hardware, and internal finishes.

• Concept Transformation – Convert initial architectural hand sketches and rough concepts into professional, construction-ready technical drawings.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in architectural drafting, with a minimum of 2 years specifically working with Australian building standards.

• Deep technical knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards (AS).

• Proven experience in producing documentation for DA, CDC, and CC submissions within the Australian regulatory framework.

• Strong understanding of construction methodology and the ability to coordinate with various engineering disciplines.

• High level of accuracy in technical documentation and a commitment to precision.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to facilitate remote collaboration.

Software Proficiency

• Expert ArchiCAD

• Advantageous Rhino

• General Microsoft Office Suite

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, B.S. in Architecture, or a related field from a reputable university

• Professional License (Registered Architect) is highly regarded but not essential if technical proficiency is demonstrated.
