Technical Superintendent

I. JOB SUMMARY

The position is responsible for providing technical support to the vessel thru the implementation of cost-effective preventive maintenance program, afloat ship repair and during the implementation of the drydocking program.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES

A. On Hire Preventive Maintenance

1. Monitors the implementation of shipboard preventive maintenance program to prevent unplanned stoppage and breakdown. In accordance with company standards, monitors status of vessel equipment, machineries, electrical/electronic system, and cargo handling equipment.

2. Accesses the overall condition of the vessel following inspection of all areas. When safety requirements allow photographs are

to be taken to illustrate the condition.

3. Inspects the condition and check the performance of the main propulsion machinery and auxiliary machinery and equipment

including cargo pumping, mooring, piping system, safety equipment and navigation systems etc.

4. Formalizes plans to deal with any deficiencies identified by Regulatory bodies or during Major Oil Company "Vetting" inspections

1. Coordinates with the approved shore contractors, supervises afloat ship repairs and ensures compliance of contractors to on- board safety procedures and work quality.

2. Monitors status of assigned vessels daily and provides technical assistance as needed.

3. Monitors bunkering schedules passing to master's proper instructions and validates volume requirements, monitoring of ships' implementation of bunkering operation as per company procedures.

4. Advises vessel on the result of machinery lube oil sampling and analysis result as recommended by accredited third-party service provider.

5. Conducts technical boarding and fuel consumption audit. Prepares consumption analysis report and submits to Technical
   
   Manager-Maintenance for further evaluation.

6. Evaluates vessel's outstanding maintenance and repairs and agree plans for rectification. This is to be done through the production of a "Job Order" list with agreed reporting and completion times.

7. Monitors validity of class certificates and arranges class survey inspection based on schedule. Implements all necessary actions to address observations and deficiencies on time.

8. Conducts equipment and machinery performance audit, tests emergency alarms, keeping records of the functioning and condition of all instruments and equipment onboard relating to safety.

B. Vessel on Drydock:

1. Plans vessel dry-docking schedule & prepare dry-docking mechanical / hull & coating repair specifications at least 3 months in advance and or as per existing Company procedures and discuss with Fleet Management.

2. Monitors timely and complete delivery of spare parts and consumables materials in advance and ensure advance preparation of work request to 3rd party service providers to limit dry docking delay.

3. Carries out condition assessment of fleet vessels to evaluate coating and structural plus mechanical condition prior scheduled dry-dock in order to minimize vessel's yard stay.

4. Attends to vessel dry-docking and supervises dry-dock activities such as structural repairs, coating upgrades, mechanical work, and service attendance co-ordination. Furnish daily reports to the Technical Manager for Drydock.

5. Controls the site activities and cost control while in dry-dock and furnish reports daily to the Technical Manager Dry Docking of any alterations to the specification with estimated cost adjustments.

6. Monitors Shipyards' compliance with agreed contracts / specifications throughout all stages of plan approval, construction, and guarantee period. Secures all dry-dock tests certificates, service reports, equipment calibration certificates and vessel plans/as-built drawings required by Class, Flag state and Charterer.

7. Assists in dry-docking cost budgeting/control and final bill negotiations.

8. Provides and compiles documented reports upon completion of dry docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures complete with photos and all service reports within 2 weeks of completion of docking. Complete hard copy/e copy reports to be filed in the vessels folder and share point.

9. Participates in special projects and programs as directed by the VP-Ship Management

10. Undertakes any other technical related assignments as and when required

III. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS

A. Education/License:

1. College degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering

B. Years and Type of Experience

1. One (1) year experience as Technical Superintendent for a shipping company or have worked in a similar capacity in a shipyard or power plants

2. Preferably one-year shipboard experience as engine officer on board a tanker

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Php40, Php60,000.00 per month
