The Pharmacy Assistant at M.V. Santiago Medical Center will support the pharmacy's daily operations by assisting pharmacists in preparing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to patients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsible, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. This role requires excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, and labeling medications for patients.
  2. Ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly, following all safety and quality protocols.
  3. Double-check patient information, dosage instructions, and medication details before dispensing.
  4. Provide friendly and professional service to patients, addressing their inquiries and guiding them on the proper use of medications.
  5. Handle customer requests, including over-the-counter medication sales, and provide product information as needed.
  6. Refer complex or medication-specific questions to the pharmacist.
  7. Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of medications, including restocking shelves, checking for expired products, and ordering new supplies when necessary.
  8. Perform regular inventory checks to ensure accurate stock levels and report any discrepancies to the pharmacist or pharmacy supervisor.
  9. Accurately enter patient and medication information into the pharmacy's record-keeping system.
  10. Maintain proper documentation for controlled substances and follow all legal requirements for handling and storing medications.
  11. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data privacy regulations when handling patient information.
  12. Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless pharmacy service for patients.
  13. Assist in preparing and organizing prescription orders for delivery or pick-up.
  14. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the pharmacy.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Senior high school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in pharmacy assistance is a plus.
  2. Previous experience as a pharmacy assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  3. Basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals and medication terminology.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
  5. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
