The
Cybersecurity Lead
will support the protection of Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), its subsidiaries, and its power generation plants from cyber threats. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of corporate and operational technology (OT) systems, while assisting with compliance requirements in the Philippine power sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cybersecurity Operations & Monitoring

  • Monitor and analyze security events across IT and OT environments (including SCADA and ICS systems).
  • Assist in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and documentation of security incidents.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, patch management, and remediation tracking.

2. Security Tools & Technology

  • Operate and maintain security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, and OT-specific security tools.
  • Provide input on secure configurations for new systems and projects, including renewable energy facilities.
  • Support periodic penetration testing and risk assessments.

3. Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Philippine regulations (ERC, DOE), data privacy laws, and international standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Support IT/OT cybersecurity audits and prepare required documentation.
  • Help generate regular cybersecurity status reports for internal stakeholders.

4. Awareness & Training

  • Promote cybersecurity awareness among employees through campaigns and learning sessions.
  • Provide technical guidance to plant operations teams on OT and ICS security best practices.

5. Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with IT, OT, and plant operations teams to ensure security measures are embedded in daily operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and managed service providers for technical support.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent entry-level security credentials preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of IT or cybersecurity experience (exposure to energy/utilities or OT security a plus).
  • Hands-on experience in security monitoring, incident response, or vulnerability management.

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of network and application security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, IAM, and cloud security solutions.
  • Understanding of common security frameworks (NIST, ISO is an advantage.
