Senior Software Engineer - Platforms (AU, IT, Hybrid)

Schedule: 7 am to 4 pm

Location: Hybrid/Office-based (Philippines)

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on scalable, production-grade systems
• Strong proficiency in PHP and deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
• Extensive experience with the Laravel framework, including upgrading and maintaining large-scale Laravel applications
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs, including authentication, performance optimization, and third-party integrations
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and Redis databases
• Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, and S3
• Experience contributing to system architecture design, scalability improvements, and code quality reviews
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability growth

Highly Valued:

• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks
• Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD environments
• Experience in FinTech or cryptocurrency platforms
• Comfortable with pair programming and agile collaboration
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills

As a Senior Software Engineer - Platforms, you'll be part of a high-performing team that builds and maintains globally distributed, highly scalable systems. You'll work on a range of projects such as improving B2B integrations, expanding fiat-to-crypto capabilities, developing APIs, and modernizing existing systems to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development & Architecture

• Design, build, and enhance microservices and APIs that power core platform capabilities
• Contribute to architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Lead the Laravel framework upgrade and ensure application compatibility with the latest standards
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices

Platform Enhancements & Configuration Management

• Develop and maintain business configuration management solutions
• Optimize performance across services and ensure backward compatibility for APIs
• Participate in the end-to-end testing process and continuous improvement initiatives

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work closely with Lead Engineers and Managers to take ownership of specific technical areas and uplift projects
• Mentor junior engineers, promote code quality practices, and conduct code reviews
• Communicate progress, blockers, and technical insights clearly across the team

Continuous Learning & Innovation

• Stay current with emerging technologies and frameworks relevant to PHP, Laravel, and cloud-native development
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows and enhance engineering efficiency

About the Role & Team

You'll be joining the Platform Engineering sub-team within the Technology Business Unit, reporting to the Lead Developer / Engineering Manager. The team is responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-availability backend systems that support Banxa's global operations.

You'll collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions that power our platform and future-proof our technology stack.
