Location: Philippines – Cybergate, Mandaluyong

Work Schedule: Dayshift – HYBRID (2 days onsite, 3 days WFH)

Type of Employment: Contractual (6 month-initial contract, possible absorption/extension depending on performance)

***Amenable for a three company-paid work trips per year outside of NCR. The duration of these trips will range from two weeks to one month, depending on company needs***

Job Summary

  • Responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex software applications. This role involves mentoring junior developers, optimizing application performance, and ensuring software solutions meet business and technical requirements. The Senior Application Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance system architecture, and uphold industry best practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

Software Development & Architecture

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance software applications.
  • Architect and implement best practices for software development and system integration.
  • Optimize application performance, ensuring reliability and maintainability.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide and mentor junior application engineers, conducting code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Set coding standards, development methodologies, and best practices for the team.
  • Assist in resolving complex technical challenges and debugging critical issues.

System Analysis & Design

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze technical requirements.
  • Define software architecture and recommend improvements to existing systems.
  • Design and implement APIs, microservices, and integrations with third-party applications.

Testing, Deployment & Support

  • Ensure thorough testing and validation of applications before deployment.
  • Oversee the implementation of CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Provide Level 3 support for critical application issues and ensure minimal downtime.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for software applications and system architectures.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols, data protection regulations, and internal IT policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend security enhancements.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to improve development processes and application performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and process improvement within the development team.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in developing enterprise applications using Java Spring/Springboot framework.
  • Experience with database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server).
  • Expertise in software architecture, system design, and microservices.
  • Proficiency in version control (Git) and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of API development, RESTful services, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Exposure to modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or ) is a plus.
